Focus Futures UK has been established to support young people with care experience on their journey to independence. We do this through a trauma-informed and strengths-based approach to achieve the best possible outcomes with them.

Theory to practice

Central to our approach and ethos is the recognition that the life experiences of the children we work with have a significant impact on them. We ensure that our staff are well equipped to support all children and have sought specialist training and guidance from a team of therapists who provide trauma-informed and emotion regulation training to all staff, as well as trauma-informed supervision for staff and managers.

Our approach is based on the premise that

The welfare of the young person is paramount.
The voice of the young person is heard, and they feel safe and valued.
We provide safety, space, clear expectations and opportunities for growth.
We offer children time to reflect, encouragement, empowerment, support and inclusion in the decision-making process that impacts their lives.

We recognise that young people need opportunities to develop and experience positive relationships with trusted adults, which is a crucial element of our practice, incorporating the trauma-informed and strengths-based approach.
This requires the support and guidance of positive role models as well as a structured environment and opportunities for new experiences, which Focus Futures UK can provide.
